Here, Here! An Aspiring Guru at Your Service

Guru I Approve

If I was to define what a guru is, I would say from the wise words of myself that a guru is an expert or specialist at the position he or she is in. They have the information and experiences that will be able to help guide a person to understand the problem or outcome they have.

I for one love to seek challenges, learn, and teach people. I love to solve problems because it satisfies myself in helping someone. I do most of the thinking on the spot where I am working currently at the bank. It’s fast-paced so I need to understand the client’s needs right away and make a decision based on what they have said. When a client asks for more information on a specific product like a credit card, I give them a quick rundown highlighting specific features. I also print more information they can take home and read upon it. I would follow-up the next few days and call them to see if they would be interested.

If customers need me to explain to them more thoroughly, then I would take the time to do so. For example, a client asks if I would be able to set up their online bank account and teach them how to navigate through it. I would sit down with them at a workstation and go through with them and explain in detail where to go find their accounts, how to pay bills, transfer money, and change their settings if needed.

I try to explain things in simple terms like the term “ELI5” (Explain like I’m five). This way, there would be no jargon or misunderstandings. I try not to complicate things when I explain savings or credit products to clients at work. I would show them visuals like their monthly statements and how much they can save with product information so they can listen and watch at the same time.

I like to familiarize myself with the products and inform myself of current trends and news. This way, I am able to provide the help necessary. Even if it’s not about the products I sell on the front or information on banking, I still love to chat with clients and just talk to them about anything besides weather. It can range from cars to movies. I like to keep things interesting.

I know I'll fit into the role as a guru because I like to help people, pay attention to detail, and learn and adapt quickly to situations I'm in. So, throw me in the ring and I'll show you what I got!
