I like to be prepared for what is to come but I also enjoy surprises. If it comes to being resourceful, I want to be organized as possible. When I planned a trip to Japan a few years ago, I would search up the awesome spots to see, what food joints to grab a bite and drink, and how to get there with which method of transportation to use. In secret, I am an expert in being a Google-Fu ninja.
I enjoy planning trips with friends and having a good time, but going down to the cottage for a week can be lots of work – scheduling the time, rides, equipment and what to pack. But, in the end it pays off.
When it comes to people, I love to listen and share my opinion with people. I love to mingle and am not shy of talking to others. If the information is not all present, I either try to seek it out or ask questions to see the bigger picture. At work, I get snapshots of customer’s transactions on a daily basis. If I see that they don’t have a savings plan, I ask them to set up a routine in paying themselves and doing themselves a favor in opening a savings account so they can thank themselves in the future.
Coming down to it, I try to analyze the situation and then make a decision. I would say I’m calculated in being logical and researching what I need to know before getting it done. I draw on my own experiences as well to serve as examples and to relate to the person or client. When it comes to selling a product, I need to know the target audience is, the appeal and value it offers, and how to engage and retain the intended audience.
I would use all of resources that I have before asking for help or escalating it to someone else. Just like trying to ask how to pay a loan, I would ask the customer what type of loan it is and then referring to the tools on my intranet before asking my manager for guidance.
I create the opportunities where others may see it as an obstacle and take advantage of it.
